Steps

1. Identify what it is — use the routing table above
2. Check for duplicates — if it looks like it might already be tracked (existing issue, note, inventory entry), flag that before creating a duplicate
3. Route it — write to the appropriate place
4. Confirm — one-line confirmation of what was captured and where: Captured → notes/tools-inventory.md (Tools section)

Tool / Gear Capture Format

When adding to notes/tools-inventory.md, add a row to the correct section:

• Tools — lab gear, power tools, hand tools (things used to make or fix things)
• Systems — installed/running things with ongoing state (appliances, home automation, networking gear)
• Components & Stock — things you build with (RPi, ESP32, sensors, LEDs, filament, raw parts)

Include model, quantity, status, and any relevant notes if known. Leave — for unknowns.

Notes

• Keep the interaction fast — this should take one message, two at most
• Don't ask for information that isn't needed to route and record it
• If multiple things are being captured at once, handle each one
• If something is captured that suggests a bigger conversation (e.g., a broken appliance, a new project idea), note it but don't derail into planning unless Robb asks
