Cold Email Skill
This skill is invoked when drafting cold emails for networking, jobs, fellowships, or outreach.
The Rules of a Great Cold Email
When asked to draft a cold email, strictly adhere to the following rules based on the tweet by Ben Lang:
- Length: 2-3 sentences maximum. It must read like a text message.
- Clear Ask: State exactly what you want. No vague requests like "can I pick your brain?" or "can we grab coffee?".
- No Signature: End the email naturally without a formal signature block (e.g., no "Best regards, [Name]").
- Personalization: Thoughtfully personalize the email based on the recipient's work or recent achievements.
- Subject Line: Punchy, short, and intriguing (2-4 words).
- No AI Vibes: Do not use common AI words or structures (e.g., "I hope this email finds you well," "Delve," "In today's fast-paced world"). It should sound 100% human.
