Relaxed → no synchronization guarantee (counter increments only)
Acquire → "I am reading a value written by another thread" (load side)
Release → "I am publishing a value for another thread to read" (store side)
AcqRel → combined for RMW operations (CAS, fetch_add on shared data)
SeqCst → total global order — only when you truly need it (rare)
Default rule: use Acquire on loads and Release on stores that form a synchronization pair. Use AcqRel for CAS. Avoid SeqCst unless the algorithm explicitly requires a single total order.
