Use when brainstorming anti-marketing content, social media ideas, promotional reels, or any marketing material for the film. Generates ideas where the failure to market IS the marketing. Requires reading film memory files first.
The marketing of a film about a man who can't finish things should be a man failing to market the thing he hasn't finished.
TheCKStyle is Su's anti-marketing philosophy for his film. It produces content where the attempt to do a normal filmmaker thing (pitch, announce, reveal, promote) derails into entertainment. The failure IS the content. Named after a Louis C.K. book promo where the cameraperson's boredom sabotages the pitch — except Su's friction is real, not manufactured.
Before generating ANY ideas, read:

If it fails one, kill it.
The saboteur is Su himself — his overthinking, tangents, restarts. Never an external villain. The Comedian's energy leaking through without the audience knowing the Comedian exists.
The film is never successfully pitched. The attempt to pitch IS the content. The audience learns about the film sideways, through Su's inability to describe it.
Structure: Su tries normal filmmaker task → attempt derails → derailment is funnier than the task. If the idea has Su succeeding cleanly at something, it's wrong.
Phone. Handheld. Natural light. Auto backseats. Studio after hours. If it looks produced or "content-creator-ish," it violates the style. The Louis C.K. reel was shot by someone who didn't care — that's the energy.
Even in marketing. The content is about failure but FEELS fun. You laugh, then realize what you're laughing at. Never self-pity. Never begging for attention. The tone is: a guy who can't help being entertaining about his own inability to get things done.
Every idea falls into one of two voices:
| Mode | Voice | Energy | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Journey | Su — raw, unplanned, in-the-moment | Vulnerable, real, interrupted | Auto confessional, Day 1 posted for the 6th time |
| The Masterclass | The Comedian — deadpan, authoritative, wrong | Confident, polished delivery of terrible advice | "Step 4: Watch every BTS documentary ever made" |
The audience doesn't know these are two different people. When the film drops, they realize the account had split personality the whole time.
When brainstorming new ideas, follow this:
What's the filmmaker task Su would be expected to do?
How does Su's own brain (the Comedian) derail it?
The ending is either:
Can this idea be flipped into a Masterclass episode?
Can this idea repeat? The best TheCKStyle concepts work as series:
| If the idea does this... | It's wrong because... |
|---|---|
| Su successfully pitches the film | The whole point is he CAN'T |
| Looks like a polished "content creator" reel | Anti-polish is law. If it's slick, it's dead |
| Has an external villain (industry, gatekeepers) | The obstacle must be INTERNAL |
| Feels like self-pity or "woe is me" | Nusrat Principle. Fun despite failure |
| Directly explains the film's plot or themes | The product is never successfully pitched |
| Uses someone else's content/format sincerely | Subvert formats, don't copy them |
| Requires a team or production setup | Must be shootable solo or with one phone holder |
| Takes more than an hour to make | Su works 12-hour days. If it's a project, he won't do it |
These are already documented in topics/theckstyle.md. Build on them, don't recreate:
When presenting ideas to Su, use this structure:
### [Concept Name]
**Mode:** Journey / Masterclass
**Format:** Reel / Carousel / Text post / Story
**Setup:** [One sentence — what Su is trying to do]
**Sabotage:** [One sentence — how it derails]
**Punchline:** [The ending — text card, cut, freeze, silence]
**Serializable:** Yes/No — [if yes, how it repeats]
**Shootability:** [What's needed — phone only? one other person? studio?]
Do NOT write dialogue for Su. Give structure, setup, and sabotage. Su finds his own lines. (See CORRECTIONS.md — "Writing Dialogue That Doesn't Sound Like Su")
