Overview: The NotebookLM Audio Workflow

NotebookLM is Google's AI notebook that can generate natural-sounding podcast audio from your content. This skill guides you through creating episodes and distributing them.

Step 1: Prepare Your Content

Content types: Text files, Google Docs, PDFs, Web URLs, direct pasted text

Key principle: Write in conversational style for natural-sounding audio. Use first-person language and specific examples.

Step 2: Generate Audio with NotebookLM

Access NotebookLM

1. Go to https://notebooklm.google.com/
2. Sign in with your Google account
3. Click "Create new notebook"

Upload Content

1. Name your notebook (e.g., "Podcast Episode 5")
2. Add content via:
   • Upload: Drag and drop PDF or text file
   • Link: Paste Google Doc link or web URL
   • Paste: Copy and paste text directly
   • Add more: Include multiple sources for "Audio Overview"

Generate Audio Overview

1. Once content is uploaded, look for "Audio Overview" button
2. Click to start audio generation
3. NotebookLM generates a natural-sounding two-person conversation
4. Wait for generation (typically 2-5 minutes)
5. Preview the audio and transcript

Download the Audio

1. Click the download icon on the generated audio
2. Choose format: MP3 (recommended for podcasts)
3. Audio is saved to your Downloads folder

Audio Specifications

• Format: MP3 (mono or stereo)
• Bitrate: 128-192 kbps (podcast standard)
• Length: Typically 10-30 minutes depending on content
• Style: Two-speaker conversation (natural dialogue)
