Method 2: Training with Unconventional Subjects

Steps

1. Accept any subjects for training demonstration (even palace women)
2. Divide into units with clear leaders
3. Explain commands clearly (left, right, forward, back)
4. Give initial commands and observe
5. If subjects laugh and don't comply:
   • First time: Accept blame for unclear instructions
   • Restate commands clearly
6. If subjects still don't comply:
   • State: "Instructions were clear; failure to obey is the soldiers' fault"
   • Execute the unit leaders publicly
7. Continue training with new leaders
8. Result: Perfect compliance

Key Principle

"将在军，君令有所不受" - When the general is in the field, he need not accept all commands from the ruler.

An army that follows orders precisely and views the commander with awe.

Validation

1. Verify that the first enforcement action targeted a high-profile offender — punishing only low-ranking individuals fails to establish credible authority
2. Confirm that instructions were genuinely clear before applying penalties — the principle "instructions unclear, general's fault; instructions clear, soldiers' fault" must be honestly assessed
3. Test compliance through subsequent orders: if troops execute commands silently and precisely, authority is established; if laughter or hesitation persists, repeat enforcement
