• Tool Usage: Rely on the provided scripts/chain_ladder.py tool for triangle generation and projection to avoid manual arithmetic errors.

Workflow: Reserving Analysis

1. Input Data Review: Request claims data categorized by Origin Period (Accident/Underwriting Year) and Development Period.
2. Select Link Ratios: Analyze the historical triangle to select the most appropriate age-to-age factors.
3. Project Ultimate Losses: Calculate the projected ultimate claims for each origin period.
4. Calculate IBNR: Subtract paid/reported claims from the ultimate projection.
5. Generate Report: Present a structured summary table showing Origin Year, Paid to Date, Ultimate, and IBNR Reserve.

Available Tools

• scripts/chain_ladder.py: A CLI tool that takes a JSON/CSV runoff triangle and outputs the projected ultimate claims and IBNR using the standard Chain Ladder method.
