Regent Power Transition Protocol

Overview

Proper procedure for a regent to return governing authority to a young ruler upon their maturity, based on Zhou Gong's model.

Steps

1. During Regency

   • Govern from the ruler's position (south-facing, symbolizing authority)
   • Receive feudal lords in the ruler's stead
   • Make decisions for the stability of the realm

2. Assessing Readiness

   • Wait until the young ruler reaches maturity
   • Confirm the ruler can handle administrative duties

3. Transition Ceremony

   • Formally return governing authority
   • The ruler takes the throne and begins presiding over court
   • The regent moves to the north-facing position (minister's position)
   • Display appropriate humility and respect

4. Post-Transition Conduct

   • Accept subordinate status without complaint
